Creative testing tool for structured A/B ad variants

A test only teaches you something when you know what changed. AdClip builds variant sets where one element moves at a time, names every file so results are easy to read and hands you a CSV ready for bulk upload.

Why most creative tests teach nothing

Many teams launch five ads that differ in everything at once: a new hook, a new shot, a new voice and a new offer. One of them wins, but nobody can say why, so the next batch starts from a guess again. The other common failure is the opposite: tiny changes such as a button colour that rarely move results at all. A creative testing tool should make it easy to change one meaningful thing at a time and to keep track of what each file was testing. That is what AdClip variant sets are for.

Four kinds of variants from one concept

Variant typeWhat changesWhat stays the sameWhat it tells you
HookThe first line and opening captionBody, visuals, voice, CTAWhich opening stops the scroll
VisualThe opening shot or the backgroundScript, voice, CTAWhich image or scene earns attention
VoiceThe voiceover voice or languageScript, edit, CTAWhich delivery fits the audience or market
CTAThe end card and button textEverything before the end cardWhich offer or action closes best

You choose which variant types to build for each concept. A small test might use three hooks on one body, a larger one might cross hooks with two visuals.

File names that explain themselves

Every file in a variant set follows the same pattern: product, angle, ratio and variant. A name such as SERUM-PROB-916-A tells you it is the serum product, the problem angle, a 9:16 file and variant A. When results come back in Ads Manager or TikTok Ads Manager, you can read the winning element straight from the ad name without opening a spreadsheet.

  • Product code from your product or a short name you set.
  • Angle code for problem, result, comparison, offer or curiosity.
  • Ratio code for 916, 45, 11, 169 or the Google sizes.
  • Variant letter for each change within the set.

A batch CSV ready for bulk upload

Each batch comes with a CSV that lists every variant file next to its primary text, headline, description and call to action. Use it as the source for a bulk upload sheet in Meta, a TikTok batch or a Google asset group, or keep it as your test log. On Growth and higher plans you can also download the whole batch as one ZIP.

How a test batch comes together

  • Paste a product link or open a saved product.
  • Pick the angle you want to test and generate hooks for it.
  • Choose which variant types to build and how many of each.
  • AdClip renders the videos and statics in every ratio you need, with consistent naming.
  • Export the files, the SRT captions and the CSV, then launch.

Hooks are the variant most teams test first. The facebook ad copy generator page explains how AdClip writes them.

Testing habits that hold up

  • Test one variable per set, and let each ad get enough spend to give a readable signal before you judge it.
  • Start with hooks, because the opening decides whether the rest is seen at all.
  • Keep winners running and feed new challengers in each week rather than replacing everything.
  • Retire an ad when its results slide steadily, a sign the audience has seen it too often.
  • Write down what each test was meant to answer. The file names help, a one line note per batch helps more.

Our guide to facebook ads creative testing turns these habits into a weekly routine for small teams.

Variant volume per plan

A/B variant sets with ad manager naming are part of Growth and every higher plan. Every variant counts as one ad toward your monthly limit, so the numbers are easy to plan around.

Where to run your variants

Creative testing tool questions

Enough to compare one change, not so many that each gets too little spend. Many teams start with three or four variants of a single element and grow from there.

AdClip prepares and names the variants. Results come from your ad platform, and the naming makes it quick to see which hook, visual, voice or CTA performed best there.

Yes. Each variant can export in 9:16, 4:5, 1:1, 16:9 and Google sizes, with the ratio in the file name, so you can compare platforms on the same creative.

No. There are no credits. Each exported video or static variant counts as one ad toward the monthly limit of your plan.
